This Saturday is Valentines Day, and in honor of it I chose to pick a picture that delt with love. Even though now that I have actually thought about it, Valentines day has become a pointless holiday to me when it was my favorite before. Why should we only show our loved ones how much they mean to us on one specific day a year? Shouldn't we continuously remind them throughout every single day? Everyday we should pass around our love and show how much we care, not just on Valentines Day.
While I do think it's nice for there to be a day in which you overly express your affection for someone, I have a serious problem with how it is shown in high school. People who have known each other for just weeks are already lavishing each other with hundreds of dollars worth of gifts. For the most part nobody in high school actually understands love. If they did they would realize that there are other ways to show it than just to spend so much money on the other person. Sometimes the most meaningful gifts are also the cheapest.
ReplyDeleteThe most meaningful gifts are the ones that show you truly care, the ones that take time and effort and thought. Sure, you can put thought into a $100 bracelet or necklace, but I think, personally, I'd rather have a homemade gift than one that anybody could obtain through monetary status.
